Growing up, and currently living in the south, under its strict heteronormative social expectations, is a difficult environment to explore queer and artistic identity. But, in this isolation, I have found freedom from these expectations to engage more deeply with both.
Since the statewide shut down, I have since returned to my creative roots in acrylic and mixed media painting.

Depicting the beauty of the southern landscape during the complexity of current events has been extremely therapeutic.
This work has kept me connected with other artists and their work online as I continue my explore my work and identity as a queer southern artist.
