Whenever I watch a movie or a series set in the 1970s, I have a tendency to scan the set for consistency and period correctness. It's an annoying thing my brain does, but when some true-crime episode cuts to a depressing wood-paneled motel room and there's a generic '70s abstract painting hanging on the wall there's just something satisfying about the curation.
I grew up in the '70s/'80s so those images stick in my head and come out when I sketch or paint—it's how I'm wired.

I fully gave into it and decided to make these somewhat tacky but very enjoyable to make pieces, mostly from acrylics and oil sticks, partially as an escape but definitely as an homage to '70s kitsch.
