I usually do street and travel photography, so this pandemic and period of quarantine has given me the time to work on a more elaborate and personal project.
I was inspired by the challenge of recreating recognized paintings and I wanted to make a self-portrait project inspired by the paintings of Black painters. This series is based on the works of Amy Sherald and Barkley Hendricks. I was drawn to the simplicity of their paintings, the colors used, and their message.

Since I am self-isolating, I relied on myself as a model as well as items from my own wardrobe. I focused on certain elements and patterns or color in their painting to create my self-portraits.
